Most Pakistani passport holders need a sticker visa from the Embassy of Türkiye to visit Turkey. The online e-Visa is only for those who meet extra conditions, the main one being a valid visa or residence permit from the USA, the UK, Ireland or a Schengen country. e-Visa or sticker visa: which one do you need?

Turkey e-Visa (conditional)

• The Embassy of Türkiye in Islamabad says Pakistani ordinary passport holders with a valid Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit may get a one-month, single-entry e-Visa at evisa.gov.tr.
• The e-Visa site shows more conditions when you choose Pakistan as your country. Read them and meet every one before you pay.
• The US, UK, Irish or Schengen visa or permit must be valid. An expired one doesn't count.
• Use only the official site, evisa.gov.tr. Look-alike websites charge extra.

Sticker visa from the embassy

• If you don't qualify for the e-Visa, apply for a sticker visa through the Embassy of Türkiye in Islamabad and its visa application process.
• It is the usual route for first-time travellers, families and business visitors from Pakistan.

Documents for a Turkey sticker visa from Pakistan

These are the documents commonly asked for. The embassy's current checklist is final, so confirm it before you submit.

• A passport valid for your whole trip with blank pages, plus your old passports.
• The completed application form and recent photos.
• Recent bank statements showing you can pay for the trip.
• An employer letter with approved leave, or business registration and tax documents.
• Hotel bookings and a return flight reservation.
• Travel health insurance.
• For families: the NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC) or birth and marriage certificates. For business: an invitation from the Turkish company.

How to apply, step by step

1. Check whether you qualify for the e-Visa: a valid US, UK, Irish or Schengen visa or residence permit, plus the conditions listed on evisa.gov.tr for Pakistan.
2. If you qualify, apply online at evisa.gov.tr and print the e-Visa.
3. If you don't, collect the documents above for a sticker visa.
4. Submit your application with the full file, and keep copies of everything.
5. Book non-refundable flights only after your visa is issued.

When to apply

Apply a few weeks before you travel, and earlier for summer, Eid and the winter school holidays, when demand is highest. Give yourself time to fix a missing document without having to move your flights.

Business and family visits

Business travellers should add an invitation letter from the Turkish company, on its letterhead, with the dates and purpose of the visit, and a letter from their own employer or company in Pakistan. If you are visiting relatives who live in Turkey, include their invitation and a copy of their residence permit or ID, and show how you are related.
