Fake Visa Agents in Pakistan: 7 Red Flags and How to Check an Agent Before You Pay
A fake visa agent in Pakistan usually gives himself away before you pay. He promises you will get the visa, offers an earlier embassy appointment for extra money, or offers to "arrange" your bank statement or job letter. A genuine consultant does none of these things. Before you pay anyone, visit the office, get the service and its cost in writing, and pay embassy fees only through the official channel.
This guide comes from IVS – Islamabad Visa Services in F-10 Markaz, Islamabad. Yes, we're an agent too, so at the end we show you how to check us.
Based on official guidance from IRCC's fraud and scams page (Canada.ca). Last updated October 2026. Visa rules, fees and waiting times change, so always confirm on the official site before you apply, or ask us on WhatsApp for the latest checklist.
Key points
- Only the embassy decides. No agent can promise you a visa.
- Don't pay an agent or tout extra for an "earlier" appointment date.
- Never let an agent make a document for you. A fake one can get you refused and barred for years.
- Cheated already? Save every receipt and chat, and complain to the FIA.
7 red flags of a fake visa agent in Pakistan
It often starts with a WhatsApp message or a Facebook ad: "UK visit visa, file ready in a week, visa pakka."
1. He promises you will get the visa
"Aapka visa pakka hai, bas advance de dein." A visa officer reads your file (and, for a US visa, interviews you) and decides. Nobody in a visa centre or "inside the embassy" can promise that result. Treat "visa or money back" offers the same way.
2. He sells you an appointment date
"Thore extra do, agle hafte ki date mil jayegi." Visa appointment sellers in Pakistan work outside the official system. You can't check where the date came from, and you may lose the money and the appointment. Our guides to UK, US and Schengen appointment booking show where each one is really booked.
3. He offers to make or "arrange" documents
"Statement ki fikr na karein, hum bana denge." Bank statements, salary slips, job letters, hotel bookings: if an agent offers to produce any of them, leave. Officers can contact banks and employers, and you sign the declaration on the form, so the fake becomes your problem, not his.
4. He tells you to hide something
"Pichla refusal form mein mat likhna." The UK and Canada forms ask about refusals by any country, and many countries share visa information. A refusal you declare and explain does far less harm than one you hide.
5. He sells a job abroad on a visit visa
"Visit visa pe chalay jao, wahan kaam mil jayega." A visit visa doesn't let you work. People sold this "package" risk being stopped by FIA officers at the airport or refused entry abroad. Pakistani newspapers regularly report FIA arrests of agents in overseas job and visa fraud cases.
6. He wants cash upfront, with no receipt
"Poori payment abhi, cash mein. Receipt baad mein." A real business gives a receipt in its own name. Be careful if you're asked to pay into a personal mobile wallet or a third person's account, or pushed to pay "today, before the rate goes up".
7. He has no real office, or a copied page
"Office ki zaroorat nahi, sab WhatsApp pe ho jayega." Some fake agents are just a phone number and a Facebook page. Others copy a real company's name and logo. Check that the page links to a website with a street address, and that the phone numbers match.
What a genuine visa consultant actually does
The honest job is smaller than the sales pitch. A real consultant explains which visa fits your trip, checks your documents against each other, organises your file, guides you through the official form and booking, and tells you when your file is weak, even if that means you don't apply yet. No promises, no slots, no documents made in a back office.
How to check a visa agent is genuine before you pay
Whether you want to verify a visa consultant in Islamabad, Rawalpindi or Lahore, do these checks before you hand over a passport or a rupee.
- Visit the office. See the signboard and the staff. An agent who won't meet you face to face is telling you something.
- Get the service and its cost in writing, including what happens if you're refused.
- Pay embassy fees only through the official channel. A UK visit visa, for example, is applied for and paid online on GOV.UK. The receipt should come from the official system, in your name.
- Keep your own login. Use your own email and phone number on the application so embassy messages reach you.
- Check the official social account. It should link to the same website and phone number. A verified badge means Meta confirmed the account's identity, not that a government approved the business.
- For Canada, check the licence. Only authorised representatives, such as licensed RCICs and lawyers, can be paid to represent you. Look up the licence number on the CICC register.
- Read reviews over time, including the low ratings, and see how the business replies.
Asli visa agent kaise pehchanein? Paisay dene se pehle daftar jayein, service aur fee likhwa kar lein, aur embassy ki fee sirf us tareeqay se ada karein jo official website batati hai, apne naam par.
What a fake document can cost you
Losing money is the smaller loss. The bigger one is your record.
- UK: a refusal for deception can lead to future applications being refused for up to 10 years.
- Canada: misrepresentation can get you banned from Canada for at least 5 years, and you could have a permanent record of fraud with IRCC (see IRCC's consequences of fraud page).
- USA: fraud or wilful misrepresentation can make you permanently ineligible for a visa.
And a refusal follows you. A fake statement in a Schengen file can come back years later, when your UK or Canada form asks whether you've ever been refused.
Not sure about a document an agent gave you?
Send us a photo (cover your passport and account numbers first). An IVS consultant will look at it with the rest of your file and tell you honestly what we see. WhatsApp 0318-0056560 to ask us about a document
Do you need an agent at all?
No. Official forms are free on the embassy or government website, and you can apply yourself. IRCC says it treats every application the same way, with or without a representative.
A consultant earns the fee on the file: a second pair of eyes on every date, name and amount, so the salary in your job letter matches your bank statement and the file tells one clear story. If your case is simple, you may not need us. Ask, and we'll tell you honestly.
How to file a visa fraud complaint with FIA
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) investigates visa and overseas job fraud. If an agent has cheated you:
- Stop paying. Don't send "one last fee" to release your passport.
- Save receipts, transfer slips, WhatsApp chats and voice notes, and the agent's name, numbers and address.
- Complain online through the complaint section of the FIA's official website, fia.gov.pk, or in person at your nearest FIA office. FIA offices are mostly in the bigger cities, so if there isn't one near you, the online complaint is usually the easier way.
- Report the fake page to Facebook or Instagram, so the next family doesn't fall for it.

How IVS helps with your visa
We help with visit, student and business visas for the UK, the USA, Schengen countries, Australia and more: the right visa for your trip, a checklist for your case, a review of every document, guidance on the official form and booking, and interview preparation, in English, Urdu or Punjabi.
Canada works differently. For Canada visitor visas and study permits, our part is explaining the official checklist and organising your documents. IVS works with licensed RCICs on our panel, who work with us as part-time contractors. When your application needs an authorised representative, a licensed RCIC from our panel handles the representation with IRCC. IVS itself is not an RCIC. Ask for your consultant's licence number and check it on the CICC register, just as you would with any other agent. See our Canada visa service.
Only the embassy decides; we make your file complete, consistent and honest. Browse all the countries we help with.
Applying from outside Pakistan?
IVS helps people apply from Pakistan, the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, Dubai and many more countries. If you need a visa, wherever you live, message us on WhatsApp at 0318-0056560 and a consultant will tell you what your application needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I check if a visa agent in Pakistan is genuine?
Visit the agent's office, get the service and its cost in writing, and pay embassy fees only through the payment method the official website gives you, in your own name. Check that the agent's social media page, website and phone number match, and for Canada look up the consultant's licence number on the CICC register.
Can an agent promise me a visa?
No. Only the embassy decides, and no agent, consultant or contact inside a visa centre can promise the result. An honest consultant can only make your file complete, consistent and truthful.
Should I pay an agent for an earlier visa appointment?
No. Appointments are booked through the embassy's own system or its official visa centre, and a date sold by someone outside that system can't be checked. Keep checking the official booking site instead.
Where can I complain about a fake visa agent in Pakistan?
Complain to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) online, through the complaint section of its official website, fia.gov.pk, or in person at your nearest FIA office. Keep every receipt, transfer slip and WhatsApp chat as evidence.
What happens if an agent gives me a fake bank statement?
If the embassy finds it, you can be refused for deception. For the UK, future applications can then be refused for up to 10 years; for Canada, you could be banned from Canada for at least 5 years and have a permanent record of fraud with IRCC. The document is your responsibility, because you sign the declaration on the form.
Do I need an agent to apply for a visa from Pakistan?
No. Official forms are free and you can apply yourself. A consultant helps by checking that every document agrees with the others and by organising your file, which matters most if your case has gaps or a past refusal.
