Italy Visa Appointment from Pakistan (2026): Booking, Centres and Apostille

As of October 2026, an Italy visa appointment in Pakistan for a short-stay Schengen visa (tourism, a family visit or business) is booked only through the link on the official Italian mission's website: the Embassy of Italy in Islamabad (ambislamabad.esteri.it) or, for Sindh and Balochistan, the Consulate General of Italy in Karachi (conskarachi.esteri.it). If you live in the embassy's area, you hand in your file at the Italy visa application centre in Islamabad or Lahore, run by the provider the embassy calls BLS-Intiana. Appointments are free and must never be bought. IVS – Islamabad Visa Services, a private consultancy in F-10 Markaz with no link to the embassy or the visa centre, cannot get, sell or speed one up for you.

How to book an Italy visa appointment from Pakistan

1. Confirm Italy is the right country (see below).
2. Open the official website (the embassy's, or the Karachi consulate's for Sindh and Balochistan) and use the booking link in its newest visa notice, not a link from Facebook or WhatsApp.
3. Register yourself, with your details exactly as in your passport and your own email and phone number. Appointment messages go there, not to an agent.
4. Choose your centre and visa type, then take a free date if one is offered.
5. Go to the centre on your date with your complete file. You give fingerprints there if needed and pay the fees shown on the official site.
6. The embassy decides, and your passport comes back through the centre.

Is there an Italy waiting list for visit visas?

The embassy's July 2026 notice says short-stay appointments are booked through the official portal linked from its website, and that a waiting list is in place for family reunion and work visas, which IVS does not handle. How short-stay dates are released can change, so read the embassy's newest notice and check the portal again if no date shows. Don't pay anyone who claims a "quota" or a way to move you up. Nobody honest can.

Where to apply for an Italy visa in Islamabad

You can apply only at the centre for the area where you permanently live, and a change the embassy announced in 2026 redrew that map.

• Multan and Faisalabad closed for good on 6 September 2026, the embassy's notice says. Bookings are now only for Islamabad and Lahore, and passports from the closed centres come back through Lahore.
• Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the rest of the embassy's area: the Islamabad or Lahore centre, whichever the portal offers for your address.
• Sindh and Balochistan: the Consulate General of Italy in Karachi, with centres in Karachi and Quetta.

Two booking websites in the news: which one is real?

In July 2026, Pakistani news sites printed two different addresses for Italy appointments, and unofficial sites also come up in searches. Don't type an address from a news story. Click the booking link in the embassy's own visa notice, and check the address bar before you enter passport details.

The embassy's July notice also warned that middlemen were illegally taking money to "arrange" appointments. If anyone offers you one for money, don't pay, and report them to the embassy. In another notice the embassy said that neither it nor BLS-Intiana contacts applicants from a WhatsApp or mobile number, or asks for deposits. IVS never sells or arranges appointments.

Apostille documents for an Italy visa from Pakistan

Since 18 November 2024 the embassy has accepted only Pakistani documents apostilled by the Government of Pakistan (embassy notice). This covers public documents such as NADRA certificates.

• Register on MOFA's apostille portal, attach your CNIC and create your application (MOFA also asks you to book a visit online). Then take the originals and copies to a MOFA attestation office, where a challan is made for you to pay. Check the portal for the current steps.
• The apostille goes on the original, so get the right one first. If your checklist asks for a computerised NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC) in English, apostilling an old or Urdu copy wastes a trip.
• Check whether your checklist asks for an Italian translation, and of which papers.

In most cases you get the right original from the issuing office (such as NADRA) first, and the apostille after that. Translations have their own rules: the embassy's document guidelines explain how an Italian translation must be done and certified, and your checklist says which papers need one. Follow the embassy's checklist for each document rather than a general rule, and ask the embassy if a step is unclear.

Documents for an Italy tourist, family-visit or business visa

• An FRC that isn't apostilled, or isn't the English version the checklist asks for.
• Papers too old by appointment day. Papers collected months earlier may be past the checklist's limit when your turn comes.
• A weak itinerary: bookings that miss nights, or most nights outside Italy.
• Insurance gaps: a policy that starts late, ends early or leaves out some Schengen countries.
• Dates that don't match across the form, bookings, insurance and leave letter.
• A large deposit just before applying, with no papers showing where it came from.
• A vague business invitation that doesn't say what the meeting is, when, and who pays.

Is Italy your main destination?

Apply to Italy only if you spend the most nights there or the main purpose of the trip is there, such as a trade fair in Milan. If no country is the main one, apply to the country you enter first. What to do before your Italy appointment

1. Check your passport. If it needs renewing, do it before you register.
2. Start the slow papers first: originals from NADRA and other offices, then the apostille.
3. Leave bank statements, salary slips and your leave letter until close to the appointment, so they are recent on the day.
4. Watch your inbox and spam folder, and keep your registered phone on.

Schengen rules let you apply up to six months before your trip, so register as soon as your plans are firm.

Family visit, family reunion or work visa?

A short trip to see relatives in Italy, say a cousin in Brescia, needs a short-stay visa. Moving to Italy to live with a relative (family reunion) or to work needs a different visa with its own booking rules. For example, the embassy's July 2026 notice says family reunion with an Italian or EU citizen is requested from the embassy by Italian certified email (PEC).
